We’ve been basking in the glory of surviving another The Place Prize. Which makes us all winners in a way, but not in the way of actually winning the £25,000 prize. This year’s prize was actually-won by Riccardo Buscarini for his piece Athletes.

This week, after weeks, months, years (not years) of blood, sweat and tears (not tears), the finals of The Place Prize for dance, sponsored by Bloomberg, began. And - allegedly - there were a couple of other opening nights for dance elsewhere in London too.

We’re very much looking forward to Scottish Dance Theatre’s performances at The Place later this week (on 7 and 8 March), not least because of the beautiful pictures of the show.
Richard Alston Dance Company spring tour 2013

Richard Alston Dance Company, based here at The Place, is touring the UK. The tour takes the company’s 10 dancers to 17 theatres around the UK for 26 performances featuring six repertoire pieces and one world premiere.

I've been riding a bike in London since 1978. I'm pleased to see many more other cyclists these days but it's got infinitely more dangerous. Anyone jumping on to two wheels needs to be prepared for anything at any moment. My dreams about flying through the air used to be about dancing; now they’re more likely to be nightmares about getting knocked off my bike by an Addison Lee cab.
