"Utterly amazing. This CD-ROM is so memorable - it is a stimulus for a new, effective and exciting style of teaching. It has totally blown me away."
- Sophie Parker, Primary Science Co-ordinator
Developed by The Place Learning and Access and YDance (Scottish Youth Dance), Science~Physical aims to change the way you think about teaching science. This CD-ROM uses movement, music and imagery to bring the primary science curriculum to life in a fresh and exciting way.
Science~Physical is a resource based on the Key Stage 2 Science syllabus and aimed predominantly at Primary teachers. While the lesson content is tailored primarily to the Key Stage 2 curriculum (Scotland: P4 – P7), the approach is equally applicable to other age groups and other subjects.
The Science~Physical model is based closely on the Accelerated Learning cycle and uses dance as a key activity showing how a multi-sensory approach can help children learn, understand and retain concepts. It demonstrates how, by using multi-sensory approaches, teachers can create dynamic and varied lessons that address every type of learning preference.
"Science~Physical supports all types of learning and so is accessible to children of differing ability. Children with attention deficit or behavioural problems should benefit from this approach. If you are interested in catering for visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learners in Science, this innovative CD-ROM is for you."
- Annie Cowan, TEEM Evaluation http://www.teem.org.uk/1861/
This innovative CD-ROM includes a variety of resources that can be "mixed and matched" (warm ups, interactive games, lesson plans, animations, music and video) as well as 12 detailed lesson plans for three scientific topics: Magnets and Springs, Light and Shadow, and The Body.
Learning and Access offers a variety of training programmes to accompany Science~Physical. These programmes have been specifically designed to enable participants to be fully prepared for using Science~Physical within practical sessions and the classroom. All programmes can be tailored to specific needs of schools, education authorities or other organisations and are led by experienced practitioners.
