The Place Prize for dance, sponsored by Bloomberg, will return in 2010. Entries will be accepted from Friday 15 January.
We're putting the finishing touches to some exciting changes for the next edition of The Place Prize. From early in the new year, we'll be looking for UK-based choreographers to submit three-minute entry videos outlining their idea for an original short work. From these entries, we'll commission the year's largest explosion of new work to compete for the biggest and most prestigious prize in British dance.
Any UK-based professional contemporary dance artist can enter (apart from the three previous winners of The Place Prize). In the past, entrants have included recent graduates, emerging artists, classical dancers who have choreographic ambition and senior, established choreographers. The overall standard is extremely high – but it’s those with the strongest ideas for a new work which stand out.
