Amanda Britton, a former dancer with Rambert Dance Company and Siobhan Davies, took the Postgraduate Diploma in Dance Training and Education in 2002, going on to complete her MA in 2004, while a faculty member at LCDS. Following the award of her Masters degree, she was appointed as Head of Undergraduate Academic Studies at the Rambert School, where she continues to teach contemporary technique and creative work alongside taking responsibility for the development of the academic curriculum.

"The course was truly amazing – it was extremely wide ranging, and very detailed, as well as being well taught, with a wide variety of lecturers who were all experts in their particular fields. Basically, this course gives you everything you need to know about teaching dance at the highest level, and a lot more besides. As things came up in the course, it was great to think ’I should know that as a dancer…’ and I now have the opportunity to give that information to a new generation of dancers, while formulating and teaching a course at Rambert School. Doing a course at this level has also meant that I’m now much more confident in using a computer, doing written work and presentations, and I have confidence and belief in the quality and integrity of my own ideas.

The Dance Training and Education course does have a huge workload – it demands a lot of reading, writing and thinking time, and students do need to be aware of this commitment. I have benefited hugely from this course, which has been a delight in so any ways. It has allowed me to research an area which has interested me for a long time. This research is an ongoing, lifelong process, and it won’t stop at the end of the course. Quite simply, there is no way I would have been considered for my current job without this course. The enormous experience, enthusiasm and integrity of the staff made my postgraduate experience exciting and rewarding; without the skills and guidance of my teachers, I would not be doing the job I now find myself qualified for."
