Rachel Lopez de la Nieta trained at Central School of Ballet and has worked as a freelance dancer since 1992, working with many choreographers and companies including Arthur Pita, Russell Maliphant, Lloyd Newson, Arc and Ricochet. She is a founder member of Fabulous Beast Dance Company based in Ireland, working on and collaborating in many award-winning productions. In 2004 she made a solo for Henrietta Hale entitled A sort or Kind for Resolution! at The Place. In 2004 Rachel and Henrietta were commissioned by The Place Prize to collaborate with Ben Ash and Angie Atmdjaja on A cross and then across. The work was then performed at Chisenhale Dance Space and recently alongside a new solo made on herself as part of a full evening of work by the Dog Kennel Hill Project at the Bonnie Bird Theatre, Laban. The Dog Kennel Hill Project, formed by Ben Ash, Henrietta and Rachel, also took part in last year’s London Improvisation in Performance at GDA collaborating with Dan Mudford.
Ben Ash trained at the Arts Education School London and the Rambert School. Ben has worked with many choreographers including Charles Linehan, Wayne McGregor, Richard Alston,Siobhan Davies, Rosemary Butcher and Fin Walker. Ben participated in the 2004 SDDC Bank project for professional development. He collaborated with Rachel Lopez de la Nieta and Henrietta Hale on their 2004 Place Prize commission A cross and then across, and went on to establish with them the Dog Kennel Hill Project. In the Summer of 2005 they showed A cross and across at Chisenhale Dance Space and in the autumn they presented an evening’s work at Laban’s Bonnie Bird Theatre which included two new works: a dance for screen film directed and choreographed by Henrietta and a solo choreographed and performed by Rachel. 2005 also saw them perform in the London Improvisation in Performance evening at GDA where they devised a 15 minute improvised score with composer Daniel Mudford, who performed live. Ben is currently working with Ricochet Dance Productions.
