Start your New Year at The Place with a range of dance classes for complete beginners to accomplished dancers. Dance is a fun and social way to stay in shape and learn new skills in an inspired and creative environment. Our team of professional teachers will provide expert advice and training, with live music accompanying most classes in our state of the art studios.

new for 2009

Due to the popularity of our Friday night Contemporary Jazz class we are introducing a Matt Mattox based Jazz class on Monday nights. Matt Mattox was a dancer-teacher choreographer who greatly affected the evolution of jazz dance in America. Mattox technique integrates jazz dance concepts with particular emphasis on isolation work, coordination and rhythm.

This term's Performance Project is led by Rick Nodine and Simonetta Alessandri who will draw on their experience of both teaching and performing improvisation to create,
a piece of choreography to be performed at the end of term.

Our regular teachers are joined by some new and familiar faces this term namely: Robert Guy, Pari Naderi, Abigail Kessel and Lyndsey McConville. 

Terms & Conditions

Please note that it is not The Place's policy to refund participants for missed classes and refunds will only be considered for particular circumstances. A doctors certificate will be required if you are no longer able to attend classes due to an injury or medical condition. Refunds may be subject to a discretionary £10 administration charge.  Any missed enrolment classes cannot be replaced by participating in any other class.

Carnet Cards

Carnet cards are redeemable for any mix of technique classes within your ability and Carnet holders receive priority booking over drop in participants as they enable you to pre-book your class. Please note that Carnet bookings can only be made on the day of the class and a maximum of 2 sessions can be carried over onto the following term if all classes have not been redeemed within the term specified.

Noticeboard

On arrival for your first class, please check the notice board on reception for any changes to the advertised programme. The board serves as a general display area for classes and courses news, information on special events, extra classes and any occasional class changes.

Changing rooms and valuables

There are male and female changing rooms with shower facilities. The code to access the changing rooms is available from the Classes & Courses office. Please note that the lockers in the changing rooms are only for the use of full time students at The Place. Please take all your belongings with you to the studio as it is not safe to leave anything unattended in the changing rooms. Please remember that no outdoor shoes are to be worn in any of the studios.
