ABOUT PHILINE
Born in Belgium and raised in France, Philine trained at the Ecole Supérieure de danse de Cannes Rosella Hightower and at the Hoger Instituut voor Dans in Antwerp. Together with composer Steven Willemsen and filmmaker Rik Suijs she created Studio Wambach, an Antwerp-based performance company with which she has continued collaborating for the last 5 years. She was assistant choreographer for Royal Ballet of Flanders before moving to London in 2004. In addition to her ballet and contemporary dance education, Philine has also trained in capoeira, circus techniques and contact improvisation and has post-graduate degrees in choreography and dance for screen.

ABOUT THE WORK
Philine's piece will be the result of research into the emotions that cause people to have goosebumps. The piece will be a compilation of the emotional, the real and the absurd, telling the ‘story' not through plot but through a flow of images, actions and reactions drawn from the deepest fears and desires of interdependent performers. Philine is in rehearsal with dancers Katryn Jackson and Anthony Missen.

WHERE YOU'VE SEEN HER
Most recently, Philine danced as a soloist in English National Opera's AIDA, working with choreographers Jonathan Lunn and Diddy Veldman.  She also performed in Diddy Veldman's Peter and the Wolf.  This past February, Philine presented her own work, called 1830, as part of the Evolution strand of Resolution! 2008.

WHERE YOU CAN SEE HER NEXT
The next opportunity to see Philine onstage is The Place Prize.  In the meantime, she is organising workshops for professional dancers at Moving East Studio on 14 & 15 August.
