ABOUT SHIN
Shin trained at Sejong University in Korea. He has worked with various dance companies and choreographers both in Korea and the UK including Tatmaroo Dance Company, Frederick Opoku-Addaie, Rashpal Singh Bansal and Hofesh Shechter.  Shin also choreographed in Korea before coming to London. In 2007 he was awarded a grant by the Arts Council Korea in recognition of his development as a rising artist.  He is currently a dancer with Russell Maliphant Company.

ABOUT THE WORK
The purpose of the piece is to express extreme images of life and death. Shin will think about pain, and how it can overwhelm us in the present, but can seem like nothing when we think back to that moment as time goes by. His work for four dancers is inspired by the question of where man's happiness and tragedy start and end.

WHERE YOU'VE SEEN HIM
As a dancer with Russell Maliphant Company, Shin was most recently seen in Cast No Shadow at New York's Brooklyn Academy of Music in November.

The next opportunity to see Shin is The Place Prize on 6 September.
