For one night only, Fresh brings together some of the UK's best youth and professional dance companies for a dynamic evening of contemporary dance
Created specifically for a younger audience aged 14+, Fresh allows young people to come together to enjoy professional contemporary dance.
The programme includes internationally acclaimed Hofesh Shechter Company, performing an excerpt of Political Mother; Jonathan Goddard, presenting his engaging 07941 611971, based on live interaction via mobile phone; and LCDS Andrew Bennett's solo show Jessica.
The professional companies will share the stage with the very best in the UK's youth dance: Dance United's metamotion, Avant Garde Youth Dance, Shoreditch Youth Dance Company and London Youth Circus.
Cando2, the youth company of Candoco, working with disabled and non-disabled dancers, will be presenting a site specific performance on the night. Shift, The Place's celebrated 14 to 19 year-old youth dance company, will also be premiering a piece by award-winning choreographer Luca Silvestrini.
Before the main performance, UNWRAPPED, a series of workshops led by artists from Hofesh Shechter Company, and Avant Garde Youth Dance's director Tony Adigun, will offer young dancers the opportunity to experience a repertoire-based session, and gain invaluable ‘behind the scenes' access into how dance moves from studio to stage.
Fresh is an exciting opportunity for young dancers to engage with professional dance artists and other dance lovers in a fun and young environment. After the performance, The Place‘s theatre bar will be transformed into an exclusive ‘after-show party' with Roundhouse resident DJ NZ, and even more dancing.
