British Dance Edition will take place for the first time in the UK’s capital in 2012, from Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 February.
British Dance Edition is the UK dance industry's leading showcase event. It presents the best of British dance to promoters and producers from the UK and across the globe, who together control programming budgets worth over £25million. The event is an initiative of the National Dance Network and takes place biennially.
British Dance Edition is being produced in 2012 by a consortium of eight of London’s leading dance organisations: The Place, Sadler’s Wells, Southbank Centre, ROH2, East London Dance, Greenwich Dance, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and Dance Umbrella, and supported by Arts Council England and the British Council.
Over three days, British Dance Edition will present the work of over 20 leading British companies in multiple venues and site-specific locations across London. The programme will attract an audience of around 300 dance industry delegates from around the world, as well as including public events and opportunities for networking and discussion.
British Dance Edition 2012 will:
• present a fully curated programme of work, growing out of the London consortium’s ongoing development work with the UK’s leading dance artists
• present work that is ready for touring to the national and international market
• include small, mid and large scale works, and site specific work by companies from across Britain
The schedule will allow for delegates to see all the works on show, with transport between venues provided. There will also be themed programming to allow ease of navigation for delegates with particular areas of interest.
The programme for British Dance Edition 2012 will be announced from July 2011, with delegate registration opening in September 2011.
